Functional Testing

Functional testing is a great way to investigate the root causes quickly and help me put the most suitable plan in place for your needs.

Functional testing, in the context of healthcare and wellness, refers to a range of diagnostic tests and assessments that aim to evaluate the function and performance of various physiological systems within the body. Unlike traditional medical testing, which often focuses on diagnosing specific diseases or conditions, functional testing is more concerned with understanding how different systems in the body are working together and identifying imbalances or dysfunctions that may contribute to health issues or suboptimal well-being.

Functional testing can encompass a wide variety of tests and assessments, these are some popular tests and approximate price that I use:

1. Hormone Testing: Evaluating hormone levels can help identify hormonal imbalances that may contribute to issues such as mood disorders, thyroid dysfunction, or reproductive health problems.

2. Gut Health Testing: Assessing the health of the gastrointestinal system through tests like stool analysis can reveal issues related to digestion, gut bacteria, and food sensitivities.

GI Map - Invivo £335

3. Metabolic Testing: These tests measure metabolic processes, such as energy production and utilization, to identify factors contributing to weight management, energy levels, and overall metabolism.

ONE test - Genova £324

4. Food Sensitivity Testing: Identifying food intolerances or sensitivities that may contribute to digestive problems, inflammation, or other health issues.

Cambridge nutritional science from £111-300

5. Adrenal and Stress Hormone Testing: Assessing the function of the adrenal glands and how the body responds to stress, which can impact energy levels and overall well-being.

Adrenal Stress index - Genova £107,

Thyroid Panel Genova £148

It's important to note that while functional testing can provide valuable insights, it is most effective when used in conjunction with a comprehensive assessment by a qualified healthcare provider or practitioner who can interpret the results and develop a tailored plan for improving health and well-being.

I can provide a test interpretation service, however I will need to complete a full personal history and initial assessment to be able to interpret the results effectively. Please do get in touch if this is what you need.
